3 Charged in Chipotle Grille Robbery

Fairfield police have arrested a man and two juveniles in connection with an armed robbery at the Chipotle Grille, at 340 Grasmere Ave., in Fairfield.

At 10:39 p.m. on Sunday, a Chipotle employee called 911 from the restaurant bathroom to report the robbery after closing hours.

Police said two handguns were used in the robbery, cash was taken and the robbers fled out the back door of the restaurant.

As officers responded, they spotted a vehicle, with the headlights turned off, speed away from Chipotle and authorities pursued it.

One officer tried to stop the car on Commerce Drive, but ended the chase because the getaway car was speeding and driving recklessly, police said.

The car continued into Bridgeport, where it struck an unoccupied vehicle on State Street Extension and flipped over onto the roof.

From here, it became a foot chase.

Police caught up with two of the suspects a short distance away. They recovered two handguns used in the robbery and cash that had been taken from the restaurant, police said.

As police searched for the third suspect, Fairfield police sent out the K9 and searched the State Street Extension area with help from Bridgeport officers.

Police found the third person hiding in an unlocked residence on Dewey Street.

Police have arrested Randell Clark, 23, whose last known address is 261 Ely Ave. in Norwalk.

They have also arrested two juveniles. All three were charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree and larceny.

Clark and one other suspect were treated at area hospitals for injuries sustained in the crash.

Clark will be transported to court later this morning, after being released from the hospital.

The juveniles were transported to the juvenile detention facility in Bridgeport.

None of the employees reported any injuries during the incident.
