Man Suspected of Exposing Himself to Kid in Custody

Police said Alan Hickey was found last night at Mohegan Sun.

The man suspected of exposing himself to a child at Westfarms Mall over the weekend appeared in court on Wednesday morning and bail was set at $350,000.

After releasing images from surveillance video, police received several calls identifying the man as  Alan Stuart Hickey, 50, of Windsor.

Police said they began surveillance while obtaining search and arrest warrants after learning where Hickey lived.

They tracked him electronically and learned he was at the Mohegan Sun Casino. State police and Mohegan Police found him and took him into custody around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police said Hickey knew he was wanted by police because he tried to hide his identity by cutting his hair and shaving his facial hair after a friend alerted him that police were looking for him.

The surveillance video released early this week shows the man, now identified as Hickey, walk into the mall on Sunday afternoon. A short time later, he was in Go! Calendars Games and Toys, where cameras caught him expose himself to a 6-year-old girl as she went by, police said. Police said Hickey also forced the little girl to touch his penis.

He might have been using his bag as a shield so adults could not see what he was doing.

Police said Hickey was in the store for about 15 minutes, was walking in circles and scoped out the same child he targeted a short time before.

Investigators said there was no telling how many kids he could have victimized.

Hickey has been charged with risk of injury to a minor, sexual assault in the third degree and public indecency.

According to information released in court, Hickey is a father of two. One of his children is in the military and the other is in college.

He is scheduled to be back in court June 25.
