Children Draw Sketches After Motorcyclist Flees Crash in Berlin

A motorcyclist fled after a crash in Berlin and some local kids are trying to help police find the culprit. They drew sketches of the driver and gave them to police.

Police said the one-vehicle motorcycle crash happened Tuesday on the Berlin Turnpike.

As police were arriving, the motorcyclist fled over the guardrail and into the woods.

Police said they searched but did not find the man.

An 8-year-old, a 7-year-old and a 6-year-old who were playing in the neighborhood saw was happened, drew their own sketches of the suspect and gave their drawings to police.

Police said the response to the Facebook poat has been overwhelming.

“If we just put out just the boilerplate language that we had a crash and we’re looking for the operator of the vehicle, you probably wouldn’t of heard from anyone,” Deputy Chief Chris Ciuci, of Berlin Police, said. “But, it’s the power of social media. We included those photos in there, and it’s getting shared all over the place. We got the message out and ultimately that’s what we are looking to do. We’re looking for some extra witnesses and maybe the actual operator of the vehicle can contact us and we can get this resolved.”

Carolyn Tracano said her daughter drew one of the photos.

"I was surprised," she said. "I didn't think she would do something like this."

Police are following leads and hope to make an arrest.
