Police ID Man Found Dead in Meriden Hotel Parking Lot

Police have identified a man who was shot and killed in a hotel parking lot in Meriden on Sunday morning.

Officers received a call from a female witness shortly before 2 a.m. reporting a shooting that had happened.

Police said the woman told them a man had been shot and needed immediate medical attention.

When police arrived, they said the found a man, later identified as 24-year-old Giovanni Rodriguez, of Meriden, laying in the entranceway of the Comfort Inn.

Rodriguez had sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Investigators said they were able to secure witnesses and video footage of the area. Police are actively following leads.

Officers are asking for the community to call with any information to assist in the investigation.
