The family of a young woman who was struck by a stray bullet while she slept in New Haven two years ago and died is pleading for anyone with information about who is responsible to come forward.

New Haven police held a news conference Friday morning and announced a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the 2020 homicide of 19-year-old Kiana Brown.

Brown was hit by a stray bullet and killed while she slept in her home on Valley Street on June 17, 2020.

Police have yet to make an arrest in the case.

“This family deserves justice, but more importantly, Kiana deserves justice,” Chief Karl Jacobson said during the briefing.

Members of Brown's family spoke, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Kiana’s uncle said they are approaching what should have been Kiana’s 22nd birthday on July 31. Instead of a party, they will come together for a memorial.

Brown’s family spoke out about what they have lost, a young woman who brought light and loved to dance and play basketball. They said they miss her smile, her jokes.
