Report: UConn Could Give Ollie Raise

Amid rumors that the Lakers have Kevin Ollie on their list of potential coaching candidates, UConn has reportedly begun talks to restructure the second-year coach's contract.

A source close to Ollie told the Hartford Courant that the coach would listen should an NBA team show interest but none have done so yet. But Ollie remains committed to UConn, where he won a national title last month.

According to the Courant, Ollie's new deal in Storrs could more than double his salary.

He has four years remaining on the five-year, $7.5 million contract he signed on Dec. 28, 2012, a deal that added five years onto the original one-season contract signed when he took over for Jim Calhoun on Sept. 13, 2012.

Last season, Ollie made about $1.4 million, counting his base salary of $400,000, $167,000 in bonuses as a result of UConn's tournament run, and payment from other revenue streams. But that is far less than other Final Four coaches, or coaches with established reputations, who make $4 million or more.

Ollie could be looking at an annual salary north of $3 million.

Last month, Ollie sat down with CBS Morning News and talked about how he loved coaching the Huskies.

"No (I haven't had any meetings with NBA teams)," he said. "I'm just worried -- worried about my kids here at the University of Connecticut. And I got three guys-- four guys is gonna graduate on time. And I want to be there for the graduation. That's actually, that's gonna be even better than the national championship. I'm never gonna say never, but I'm having so much fun. It's my dream job."
