Murder Suspect Turned Around Near Ohio to Turn Self In

The suspect, Thomas Infante, was married to his wife for 27 years.

A Shelton man accused of killing his wife of 27 years fled from the scene of the crime and was almost in Ohio when he turned around to turn himself in and confess on Monday, according to prosecutors,

Thomas Infante was arraigned in Derby Superior Court on Tuesday morning and a judge increased his bond from $500,000 to $1.5 million.

Police said the Infantes were estranged, in the process of going through a divorce and were in a heated argument in their home on Sunday night when Thomas shot Lisa.

Officers found her around 9:30 p.m. that night when they responded to 7 Hickory Lane after receiving a call about a suspicious death.

Two of the couple's four children were home at the time of the shooting, according to police, and the judge has issued protective orders for those two children.

Thomas Infante turned himself in to police on Monday  after an alert was issued, calling him a person of interest in the case and warning anyone who crossed his path that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Prosecutors said he was in Pennsylvania, almost in Ohio, when he turned around.

"My client turned himself in to the police department with no arrest warrant for him," his attorney, Josh Gulash said.

Infante is due back in court next week.
