State Police Find Missing Autistic Boy

Police said the child went missing just before noon at Bigelow Hollow state park in Union.

A Windsor family can now breathe a sigh of relief. State Police found a missing 12-year-old autistic boy at a home in Ashford, according to a spokesman from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Jonathan D. Troche was reported missing at 11:40 a.m., after he wandered into the woods at Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union Saturday, police said.

Troche was described as 5 feet and weighing 120 lbs. He was last seen wearing only brown shorts near the entrance of the park, said Dwayne Gardner of DEEP.

State Police used a helicopter and K-9 units to aid in the search. DEEP assisted, along with Union Fire and emergency services.

A few hours later a trooper found Jonathan at a home on Eastford Road in Ashford.

Jeanne Pouliot lives at the home where the child was found and said she heard someone was in her cellar just before 5:00 p.m.

"I thought someone was breaking into our home," Pouliout said. She called 911 and police arrived to find the child.

Jonathan was uninjured and taken to Children's Medical Center for observation.

"I'm pleased to know this frightening situation ended well," Pouliot said.
