The state’s Congressional districts will be redrawn this year, as required by federal and state law, and a series of hearings into the new boundary lines is beginning.
The Reapportionment Committee will hold several public hearings on redistricting beginning on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Waterbury City Hall.
The next hearing will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Norwich City Hall.
On July 18, a hearing is set for 7 p.m. in the Common Council Chambers at Norwalk City Hall.
On July 19 Fair Haven Middle School in New Haven will host a hearing at 7 p.m. and the final hearings are on July 20 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
House Speaker Chris Donovan has appointed two state representatives to serve as special advisors.
State Rep. Andres Ayala (D-Bridgeport) and State Rep. Toni Walker (D-New Haven) will serve as special advisors on Latino and African American issues.

The 2010 Census figures show a 49.6 percent increase in the state’s Hispanic or Latino population in the last 10 years to 13.4 percent.
The state’s black or African American population is 10.1 percent, a 16.9 percent increase in the last 10 years.
