A 22-year-old mechanic has died after a car fell off of a lift and onto him at a garage in Hartford on Sunday afternoon.
Police said the incident took place at a dealership and auto garage on Franklin Avenue.
According to authorities, the mechanic, later identified as Cristian Soto-Carrasquillo, of Hartford, was working on the car when it fell off of a lift and landed on him.
He was transported to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, police added.
On Monday, officers said Soto-Carrasquillo had died.
Detectives responded to the scene to ensure there was no foul play contributing to his death.
Investigators said they believe the incident was an accident that was likely the result of improper or unsecure placement of lift arms.
