Police are investigating a possible murder-suicide at 44 Eddy Avenue in Meriden.

A man and woman were found dead in an apartment at a multifamily home in Meriden on Tuesday morning and police are investigating it as a possible murder-suicide.

Police went to check an apartment at 44 Eddy Avenue after receiving a call from the daughter of a female resident at 10:45 a.m., police said.

The daughter told police she was concerned because she had not heard from her mother and asked police to check on her.

When police arrived at the residence, they looked in the windows, decided to force their way in and found a man and a woman on the floor with gunshot wounds.

Police do not yet know how long the two people have been dead or what their relationship was.

The woman is from Meriden, police said. They said they are not sure whether the man is from Meriden as well.

They said there is no threat to the public. Murder-suicide is a possibility, but have not made an official determination, police said.

Officers are looking into whether there was a history of police calls or a restraining order.

Police have secured a warrant to search the premises.
