New Britain Police Name Victim in Fatal Shooting



    New Britain Police are looking for a car that sped away from the scene of a shooting Sunday night that left Jorge David Aponte, 26, of New Britain, dead.

    Police received a call around 7:45 p.m. reporting that a man was shot on Black Rock Avenue.

    Neighbors reported hearing four to five gunshots and then witnessed a man on the ground outside of a parked vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

    Police said witnesses saw a small vehicle speeding away from the scene.

    Police found Aponte and transported him to New Britain General Hospital, where he died a short time later.

    New Britain Police Criminal Investigation Division, Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit, and the New Britain States Attorney's Office are investigating this incident.
