The bubbly Paige Davis, who for years has bounced into the homes of the design-challenged as host of TLC's Trading Spaces, told us the news first -- the home makeover show of home makeover shows has been tossed out like clutter.

The TLC program was not renewed by the cable network “after eight strong seasons,” she said.

She had just started telling friends the news when NBCConnecticut.com exclusively learned of the show's demise.

“I’ll remember the impact we had on people’s lives, on homes and in the industry,” she reflected, clearly saddened.  “It catapulted an entire genre of TV, whose host redefined the business,” she added.

Trading Spaces was among the first successful home makeover programs.   In the show, neighbors swap places and redo rooms in each other’s homes over a few days, for less than $1,000.

The resulting rooms were revealed and the homeowner’s reactions – often tearful - were caught on tape.

Now Davis will work on remaking her career.  She had been starring in a Broadway play called "Boeing-Boeing", which just closed, so Davis said she will instead focus on two different television shows she has “out there”.  One is based on the “For Dummies” book series; the other is a “culture travel” program.  And there always reruns.

A spokesman for T.L.C. tells us, “We’re not currently moving forward with producing new episodes of the show.”

Sounds like someone didn’t like the reveal.
